Democratic candidates & political organizations

73 days to the general

A dedicated dev, pointed at your worst problem.

For Democratic candidates and political organizations that need campaign tools for the 2026 general election. DemDevs are highly skilled technologists who donate their time to rapidly build custom software: free, easy to integrate, and high-impact.

What we build

Custom tooling, built around your problem.

Every campaign and organization is stuck on something slightly different, so none of this comes off a shelf. A developer learns what is actually in the way, designs a solution with you on the call, and then builds that. Examples of the shapes it tends to take:

Voter analysis and classification

Scoring and segmenting your file so outreach goes to the people most likely to move, not the whole list.

Footage into social clips

A debate, town hall or livestream becomes a folder of vertical, captioned clips ready to post, plus an editable timeline for whoever wants to tune them.

The creators who matter in your district

Give it a district, get back a ranked list of the local social accounts that actually reach the people who live there.

Social listening with routing

Every mention of your campaign, classified by urgency and sentiment, with the ones that need a human sent to the right person.

AI-driven SMS for donor data

A texting tool that holds a real conversation, collects what you need, and writes it back to your CRM.

Real-time donation thermometer

A live fundraising total you can drop into a site, a stream overlay, or an event screen.

What it costs

Nothing. No budget line, no procurement, no catch.

A tool like these from a political tech vendor is a contract, a statement of work, and a line item you have to defend to whoever holds the budget. Here it is a text message and a thirty minute call.

That is worth more than the money. There is no approval to chase and no procurement cycle to wait out, which is usually what actually stops a campaign from getting the tool it needs. And every dollar you do not spend on software is a dollar still available for voter contact.

Free invites the obvious question, so: nobody here is paid, including the person coordinating. That is also exactly what makes it legal for volunteers to hand a campaign real software for nothing.

Free

No invoice, no rate card, no upsell later. Nothing to get approved, and no vendor relationship to manage afterwards.

Easy to integrate

We build around the tools you already run rather than replacing them. Your CRM, your fundraising platform, your event tool, your voter file licence.

High-impact

We only take work where the output changes a decision or saves real hours.

Developer spotlight

A bench of senior engineers.

Projects get matched to whoever fits the problem. Two of the developers currently taking work:

Bookis Worthy, twenty years in software and CTO of five startups, who has spent the last six months volunteering on Democratic campaigns.

Brooke Graham, over a decade of interface and product engineering, and leading the teams that ship it.

We are actively recruiting. If you write software and want to point it at this, email us or see what is useful.

The receipts

Every square is a day we shipped code.

This is the public record on GitHub. 280 of the last 371 days have code pushed to them by someone on the bench. Brighter means more shipped that day.

Why we can move this fast

Most of this ships in days.

Volunteer engineering used to have a reputation, and it was earned: nobody could do serious work in the margins of a full-time job. AI changed that arithmetic. A scoped tool that would have taken a small team a quarter now takes an experienced engineer a few days.

So depending on scope, you are looking at one day to one week from the call to something you can use. Which means the constraint was never your budget. It is whether anyone technical has ever looked hard at your problem.

The uncomfortable part

Elon's devs, for Democrats.

DOGE walked a handful of engineers into the federal government and got through it in weeks. Whatever you think of what they took apart, and we know what we think, nobody argues the method failed.

That is the uncomfortable part: the lesson landed on their side first. A few engineers with current tooling now outrun a procurement department, and there is nothing conservative about that fact.

Meanwhile our institutions still buy software like it is 2016. RFPs, annual contracts, a vendor who bills for the discovery phase. Democrats should be the party that is better at this. Right now we are the party with a longer approval process.

Same method. Pointed at building things instead.DOGE: Department Of Getting Elected →

What we don't do

We are not a web shop, and we will say so on the call.

  • Websites, redesigns, WordPress, landing pages
  • Logos, brand, collateral
  • Ads, email fundraising, direct mail, persuasion content
  • Anything a product already does. We will name it and point you there
  • Political strategy. We tell you what is buildable, not what to run on

What would you build if it were free?
